Biocoenosis :

Biodiversity on this plot is relatively rich, favored by natural moisture from its position at the bottom of the slope, some summer freshness, and a south-facing exposure that ensures good sunlight. This combination of factors creates an environment conducive to beneficial insects, such as the seven-spot ladybird, a predator of aphids, and lacewings, whose larvae are formidable against many pests. Wild bees and bumblebees, essential for pollination, are also present, as well as ground beetles and rove beetles, soil predators that play an important role in regulating grapevine worms. Altogether, this reflects a living and relatively balanced ecosystem.

Biotope :

The shallow soil rests on approximately 60 cm of brown clay, followed by friable limestone chalk. Located downhill, the plot is exposed to cold air pools in winter and spring, which influences vegetative growth. It also receives part of the runoff water from the slope. This surplus moisture is partially regulated by a natural grass cover, mainly composed of legumes such as white clover, which contribute to soil fertility through their nitrogen-fixing ability. However, exposure to prevailing winds and intense summer sunlight weakens the biological balance of this environment.
